To The Wonderful People of Pecos,
I had the fortunate experience of meeting some of your residents during a less-than-fortunate incident. I was traveling from Lake Havasu City, AZ to Pueblo CO to deliver a boat I had sold to a man in Denver. My boat is not a 16 or 18 footer it is 36 foot long. After filling my truck at one of your gas stations I was in a hurry to get back on the road. Thinking I was headed in the wrong direction I made a quick and not-so-well-thought-out turn. Or should I say attempt at a turn. My turn left me with the trailer high centered blocking the entire street. My anxiety shot up as I began to grasp for ways out of an almost impossible one-man situation. But within minutes, perhaps seconds, there were five or six gentleman there to help - and if I had enlisted the help of all that asked if they could help there would have been about 20 or 30.
After a little contemplation by all of us one gentleman told me he would be right back with a piece of equipment. In just a few minutes he returned with a backhoe and in a short while the boat was back on the street and hooked up to my truck. Was I ever relieved.
I asked for a business card from the gentleman with the backhoe in order to send him something, but he said, "no problem". I cannot tell you enough how much that experience meant to me. It may seem like a relatively minor happening but it was a wonderful reminder that there are many, many good people in this country - and many of them live in Pecos!
If you have a way to get this message to the folks of Pecos it would be appreciated. I want to thank all of you who helped and all of you who offered to help. I will always visit your town on my journeys to Colorado.
You have a wonderful community and your people are what make it so.
Thank you.

I'm currently writing a historical (1840-50) novel about a family settling in area south of Las Vegas, north of Anton Chico. I realize Pecos is further west but wanted to know more about the general area between my novel's family and Santa Fe. Wonder if there migh be a topographical map o that area?

Hello. Recently moved to Pecos and having a baby this winter. I am currently a teacher at SFCC and my husband and I are looking to work in the community with education, we both are working on our certification with the state. I have visited the Pecos Independent Schools website...but would like to get more involved with public or private education in the area.

Hey Folks,
Very excited to hear that the nation's holiday tree is coming from back home. I really enjoyed reviewing the photo's at the site. As you probably know there are not many trees in Afghanistan.
Glad to read about all the great activities that you all are involved in. Keep up the great work.
Best regards.
Donnie

I am an RN looking for a different way to help people. I believe the holistic approach enhances the scientific by aromatherapies, hand massage, pedicure/foot massages, and other things. I am a licensced RN Nurse and also hold a manicuring/cosmetologist license. Any opportunities to help those in Pecos? Email me ideas, please. I would love to help the people.

Had a great time trout fishing at Monastary Lake but was surprised at the amount of trash in the water, on the shore line, and parking area. No trash cans in sight either. Residents should put volunteer clean-up group together for once-a-month effort. If I lived there, I would start one. Beautiful part of the world in the Pecos Valley!

Dear Patrick,
Having started with the PBA in it's very early stages, and sitting on the steering committe during the original web-site development, I was pretty emotionally attached to our web site. I admit to being very concerned about "throwing out the baby with the bath water", when you took on the new site. However, I have to let you know for whatever it's worth that I think the new web site is "fantastic". The structure of the pages along with the excellent photography really "Dress" our town nicely. To you and all your staff: A sincere Thank You!

I'm curious. I am wondering when the new restaurant is opening. I believe it's the building recently completed opposite Kristina's on highway 50. If anyone knows the name or opening date, I'd sure appreciate it.
