My Great Uncle, Josiah W Ware, aka Jo, and his wife Anna had a restaurant in Pecos many years age. She was known for her pies. Does anyone have a photo of the restaurant? I would love to see it. I believe they are buried in a Pecos cemetery. Thanks for any help.

Missing Pecos every day. Loved the thunderstorms
and starry nights. Many memories. Leased the Lone Star Bar for one year, and opened a "thrift/antique/art"
trash, treasures, shop! Much fun. Fell in love with a wild Indian, and have vivid memories of dear friends made.
Writing a book currently, and will include many of those adventures. Frankie's was my favorite place to chill and drink coffee. Great hamburgers at the Shell station then, many memories of lovely people.
Hello to all. Feel free to email. Diana Valencia

Oh how much I did NOT appreciate the beauty of Pecos but now that I have been gone a lifetime I appreciate it's beauty and then some. Living in the big metropolis of Southern California there are many things I miss but one espcecially is going outside at night to see the stars there are none here!!! I am a 1976 graduate of Pecos High went by the name of Agnes Gomez moved away changed name to middle name and married hence Veronica Martinez. Maybe some day upon my retirement I will head back home and enjoy the beautiful stars.

Husband & I are looking at relocating & have been considering the mountain area of New Mexico. Would like to know if the are is "artist friendly" as he's a sculptor & we need a place where he can be creative & not having neighbors getting mad about him having steel in his shop yard...So wondering what Pecos is like. Looking at a piece of property there, but need a better sense of the attitude toward artists.

Hi - I just want to express our appreciation for the "Community Spirit" extended to us during the recent snow storm. We were kind of "snow bound." For the most part all we have are 2WD vehicles. Due to our sloping drive and the drifted snow we couldn't get out. It wasn't long before Donovan Duran saw our plight and came to our rescue and plowed us out. We certainly are most grateful.

Thanks for wonderful memories of great friends I worked with at Glorita. I'll never forget people like Steve Rodriguez Jr and his family, Victor and Leroy Ortiz, Jr. Roybal. These people treated an 18 yr old kid from Mo like family. Pecos has changed since I was last there in 73-74. Thank you to all....

I am planning a trip to New Mexico and was hoping to see the only Frank Lloyd Wright home built in the state. It was built in Pecos. I can find very little information about it. It was the Arnold Friedman Lodge, sometimes referred to as "The Fir Tree." Does anyone know if it still exists and where it is located? Can it be visited? Thanks.
east pecos 8-28-2009 02:15 PM Host: mail.homewise.org
From my understanding The Fir Tree is still owned by the Friedmans - I believe one of the sons owns it. From my understaning you cannot visit it. And it is fairly hard to see the house from the road. If you want to drive by it, head out of Pecos up the canyon on highway 63. You will pass the monestery on your left and I guess the house is another 1 or 2 miles up the canyon on your left. Look for the gates - they are at an angle to the road. There are stone pillars on each side of the drive. The attached gates are black iron with some sort of metal design - like a diamond. I've been by it many many times and you'll know the gates are Wright when you see them

I grew up near Pecos, NM and attended school in Pecos. I now live in Alaska and find myself thinking back on the simpler days in Pecos, my friends, and my family. Pecos is a beautiful area. I have travelled a great deal and have lived all over the United States and I can still remember the sunsets and sunrises in New Mexico, they are like no where else on Earth. Someday I will return for a visit but until then I would highly recommend Pecos, NM.

Everytime we went camping as a kid we parked along the pecos river. Have never again as a adult been able to find the beautiful place my father parked . I know it was not far from a waterfall. THose were the good times of my life when things wer a lot simpler.40 years later have not been able to find that spot. Pecos is beautiful

I spent most of my childhood in Pecos going up there to visit family with my dad. My dad was raised there. We went last week to visit my dad. I get so homesick for New Mexico as it is.To be in Pecos and watch my children have the fun I did as a kid, made me home sick for Pecos. My family is now looking to move to Pecos. However, I can not find a recent street map of Pecos or East Pecos. Google doesn't have a map with all the streets, niether mapquest or Yahoo. Does anyone know where I can find one? Thank You.

Wow, the website looks great! Just looking at the pix made me all teary-eyed and homesick for Pecos. When we lived there in the nineties, the people were so kind to us, and really made us feel at home. I'm thrilled to see Casa de Herrera's still in business, because that's where we had our wedding reception! Note to self: find a way to get back to Pecos soon! Love to all you Pecosanos!
